New Blog

I think this blog has been dying a death for a while now and so it's time to said good bye. I always thought, 'why do this?' However, I have a new blog; Parisa Art. I decided to change for a good reason (I hope), because I am trying to sort of brand myself, my facebook page is under the same name. Please join.

Also, I thought that my blog title, Paris in Luella Land, really has no relevance anymore. I feel like it's my past and so it's time to put it behind me and concentrate on the now and becoming a little more professional now that I feel settled into what I want to do.

I hope to see you at my new blog. Bye bye darlings xx

Egg Mag

Well I never!
Link
I only went and bloomin won the job for Egg Mag!

They are a brand new London culture magazine aiming to promote sustainable consumerism. I am absolutely honored, not only to have my work commissioned for the first time, but to have it commissioned for an environmentally friendly magazine which as far as I know, is the first of it's kind! I am a huge fan of looking after our planet and try to do my bit as much as possible but I really do think that a lot of it is up to the companies out there that are selling us our goods. So thank goodness we are about to see a magazine which we can feel good about buying. After all, I know that any body who comes across my blog, looooves their magazines!
Am I right?

Here is their website which is not currently up and running but will be shortly and visit now to have a little read and find out about the fantastic blackle if you have not already heard of it yet.

The magazine will be out on the stands in July so watch this space and visit Egg Mag to stay updated and find out where you can get hold of a copy.

Holiday!

I am so sorry for the break in posting, I returned home for a little holiday last week which was just lovely, and no internet connection which is sometimes really refreshing. I spent time going to the local charity shops and bought these beautiful old books. They were dirt cheap!

Themes; how very feministic of me!

Look at this, where an old book mark must have sat for years and years between these pages. Isn't it just wonderful!

Beautiful illustrations.

A handwritten note inside reads:

To A.F.W.,
Queen rose of the rosebud garden of girls,
"Queen Lily and Rose in one"(Jennyson).

With best wishes for many happy returns of the day, from
E.E.H.

It really does make me feel electric!

Kate Moss & Carmen Solomons

pic - my magazine scan

pic - fmd1.com

Do you remember when, previously, I pointed out my thoughts on the similarity between Kate Moss as  a Newcomer back in the early 90s to Carmen Solomons as a newcomer circa now. I found this picture of Carmen in a Red Indian style feather headdress which reminded me of the famous The Face, 3rd Summer of Love edition with Kate Moss. When I have more time (deadline due in this friday) I will scan the whole spread with Kate Moss as I know it's difficult to find on the internet.

Danuki Theatre - the humdrummer

Character Description

The Humdrummer and Phillip the Orange - A person who dislikes social activity and the outside world who decides to participate in the Humdrum experiment (locking themselves away in a white shoe box to die a slow death by boredom) Through madness of ticking clocks and the realisation that he hates himself more than anything else, the Humdrummer befriends an orange with a smiley face called Phillip.

B Store teddy boys

Don't you just love B Store's fall 09 Menswear collection?

Something very 'Mr Ripley' about the outfits. 1950's teddy boy-esque don't you think?

This guy is on my course at uni!

copy cat copy cat you don't know what you're looking at

Just so that you know, I have noticed.

Pretty Hypocritical seeing as you were complaining about the same thing last year and now you're doing it to me.

Carmen Solomons; What a face!

This girl has an extraordinary beauty, reminds me of what Kate Moss offered to the fashion industry when she first came along.

She is also tiny at only 5'6.

I feel some arty inspiration coming on!

Oh and some exciting news about an exhibition my work is to be showed at in London, more to come!

Mankind Magazine

Today I created an illustration for the wonderful Mankind Magazine. Please check out their blog, Design for Mankind. it really is a must read for us creative folk and I always find out new things and people who are doing things. The magazine reminds me of Lula but with more depth and variety. It shares Lula's love of beautiful things and it's just so warm and makes me smile. To find their magazine, there is a link to the right of their home page.

Here is a little sneak preview of my piece for them, I so hope they like it!

The young bohemians in Christopher Kane

More for Danuki Theatre. I am not really sure about this one! It's funny how some days i'm left feeling totally satisfied with what i've done and others (like today) I'm not and can't stop until i'm happy, which is a bummer because I was thinking of going out tonight to our local student club for Karaoke Night! Haha, I'll have to see how I feel as the evening wears on...

My young bohemians are wearing a colourful rendition of this Christopher Kane dress from his Spring/Summer 09 collection:

Danuki Theatre

This piece is another character for my client, Danuki Theatre.

Skriker Character Description:
Skriker (Dark) - Creation of Caryl Churchills from the play "The Skriker" - shape shifting creature from the underworld who grants wishes and
steals babies to turn them into goblins - evil and seductive.

It's a little bit dark and scary!
